The impact of extreme poverty and hunger in African settings leaves millions of aged people in despicable living situations. Hunger, neglect, abuse, stigmatisation, and ill health are just a few of the menaces many elders in the poor socio-economic class continue to endure. We see the ageing generation as the major contributors to our societies and, more importantly, as God’s people. We don’t have to wait for the government to start the long overdue social welfare system that cares for such people before these people get served.
While, unfortunately, we cannot reach and fix everyone, we believe that we can, via partnerships with sister organisations, churches, groups, societal leaders and reputable persons, reach and comprehensively care for a few in a dignifying manner.
We contribute periodically to providing food items, visits and chats, spiritual and pastoral care and referral to health services. For the long term, it is our desire and prayer that with capacity and partnership, the Foundation will have a daycare and long-term facility for significantly subsidised care of the elderly.
