Day 1. ENDANGERED SPECIES

Amen. Happy New Month, Dear Brethren. It is with great gratitude to God that I welcome us all to the 2024 Selah Series. There are significant enough reasons not to return for the Selah Series this year. But earlier in July, Haba gave instructions to continue - not for us and not because we are in a good or strong place to do so, but because God has better plans for His people. So, we count it a rare honour to welcome you on board. Let us start with a brief overview of the Foundation’s report…

· The Foundation is duly registered by the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria.

· We now have an account with Zenith Bank.

· Our website remains www.selahsupportfoundation.com.

· Between 2023 and now, the Emerald Light Initiative has disbursed/spent about 1.8m Naira, 765 euros and, most importantly - several shipments of goods (mobile phones, clothes, shoes and diverse baby items and toys) to help many pregnant teenagers, adolescent mothers and their vulnerable children, especially in the face of biting poverty and hunger. We are very grateful to our generous donors (in Ireland, USA, UK and Nigeria) and project managers.

· In addition, a business empowerment vision was raised on the MRS (Marriage, Relationship and Sex) platform during last year’s edition of the Selah Series. We were able to raise 3.8m Naira and aided four businesses. We are very grateful to the generous donors and the fund administration committee.

· Also, we thank God for the opportunity to mediate in relationships and families and for the platforms and opportunities to speak/serve God’s people—all glory to God for the testimonies.

· A live intimacy session was held in May on Google Meet. As noted in that session, Selah Intimacy Hub will now be held quarterly, the next being Saturday August 17th - during the Selah Series - stunning!

Dear Lord,

We thank you for what you are doing through the Selah Support Foundation for the previous editions of the Selah Series, and we thank you immensely for your intentions for the 2024 edition of the Selah Series. Please have your way and let your name be gloried. Amen.

For many reasons, the 2023 Selah Series looks like many years ago. When Paul was writing to the Ephesian church and urging them to maintain a firm stand, including those who think they are standing, the Holy Spirit must have revealed these days to him. Marital crises are getting more common and severe, and even the homes one would have boasted as immune to crises (if such boast were possible) wobble around wreckage borders—perplexing times. 

Turbulence of all sorts and severities, such that you may find yourself and/or your home just hanging on to the anchor, as though by a cotton thread. But even in our worst days and phases, Haba’s embrace, care and love remain unfailing. On a personal note, at my lowest point, I recall the prayer that a particular senior friend prayed for, many years ago and what the Holy Spirit taught me early in my 20s about Apostle Peter.

So, wherever you are in the journey of life, especially in your family life, be aware that the storms aren’t only happening in and around your space. However, taking stock and reflecting on the issues around you is essential. There are marital challenges that emanate from poor choices, wrong company, procrastination, socioeconomic issues, etc. Also, some challenges are linked to our allegiance to the Christian faith in an era of dynamic onslaughts against our faith. You need to bear in mind that the enemy who asked Christ for Peter would not cease waging wars against the elects. 

These perspectives will underpin some of the discussions in this edition of the Selah Series. First, we will explore some of the fights against the Christian faith (from relationship and marriage points of view), and then we will dive deeper into other themes such as parenting, sex, conflict resolution and radiating God’s purpose through your marriage. 

This year’s series will be a very peculiar one. Can we ask that you please continue to pray for us and with us? We know you are busy; the posts will not be this long. Today’s post is relatively long because of the report; please oblige us.
